The Boy King - August 14th, 2011

Jehosheba was a descendant of Abraham and King David. She was also a descendant of Jezebal and Athaliah. Athaliah, the daughter of Ahab, king of Isreael, married Jehoram, son of Jehosophat, king of Judah. What a disaster this proved for Judah. She brought to Judah Baal worship, the religion of her mother Jezebel.
Despite her upbringing, Jehosheba, daugther of Athaliah, married the preist Johoiada and lived in the house of God. When Athalia ordered her grandchldren slain, Johosheba grabbed Joash, her infant nephew, and fled. She ran to the place that Athaliah would never go--the house of God. So while Athaliah was worshipping in the temple of Baal, her daugther was rasing her grandson in the house of God. Jehosheba broke the cycle of idolatry in her family and the nation of Judah.
Because Jehosheba lived in the house of God, she found the courage she needed to defy her mother; the queen, and save her nephew Joash. He became King and led his people away from worshiping Baal and back to worshiping the true God. Three main points of this story to remember:
  1. God has a plan for each and every one you!
  2. God sends us helpers to guide us along our path!
  3. God will use you, even if you are a child!
